Video games and developing relationships ? Friendships
Online friendships are different from friendships developed in person.?Online friendships have been argued to be limited because they don?t fulfill all the characteristics of friendships. MMORPGs give an opportunity for online friendships to fulfill the characteristic of a friendship. MMORPGs put the players into a virtual interactive worlds that are similar to physical world interaction which allows for the development of friendship in a deeper way. People can develop a friendship around a shared interest. Unlike online friendships developed through chat rooms, MMORPGs give an environment that parallels the physical world. Players of MMORPGs are able to support each others as they try to accomplish goals the same way people would who share an interest in the physical world.
